Dramatherapy
Below is an outline of dramatherapy, for more specific information please see the Blue Links above
Sesame dramatherapy is a safe, non-judgemental and non-confrontational way of exploring and reflecting on experiences and feelings, there is no right or wrong and sessions are confidential.
Creativity is a powerful source of change and growth, allowing each individual space for their own journey.
No prior experience of drama is necessary as dramatherapy is not about being good at drama, but about making contact with ourselves and with others. The Sesame therapist is trained to focus on individual needs, therefore sessions vary. A Sesame session can include:
-
Storytelling and enactment
-
Music and movement
-
Improvisation and role-plays
-
Puppetry and masks
-
Drawing and craft
-
Poetry
-
Play, drama games and other imaginative activities
-
Reflection
The British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth) defines dramatherapy as:
"the intentional use of healing aspects of drama and theatre as the therapeutic process. It is a method of working and playing that uses action methods to facilitate creativity, imagination, learning, insight and growth".
